While I did a short write-up about my views on Vista and the cost involved in the system-wide DRM and licensing that is to be enforced in it merely to make Hollywood happy, someone else evidently have the full specs and did a much better one.
It's long, it's technical and probably covers every angle there is on the subject. Quite depressing, so sorry for posting this during christmas.
I do however like the conclusion:
Here's an offer to Microsoft: If we, the consumers, promise to never, ever, ever buy a single HD-DVD or Blu-Ray disc containing any precious premium content, will you in exchange withhold this poison from the computer industry? Please?

It's soon christmas and this is definitely the time where everything should just work and you shouldn't have to worry about anything. My toilet doesn't work.
When I studied at the university I did not take the course on fluid dynamics. I know people who did, and they hated it. This does not entitle me to any expert opinions about fluid dynamics, but I can assure you I can tell when others fail badly at something as this is usually rather self-evident.
So when I refer my toilet "not working", it's not like it's entirely broken, but it still ain't working as it should. Let me start by telling you how I feel about toilets and what they should do to be accounted for as being in a "working condition".

Let's get one thing straight: I'm pretty useless when it comes to buying clothes. I have no girlfriend which makes sure I look fashionable, and being the lazy guy that I am, I usually ask for clothes for my birthday and for christmas. While not optimal this usually makes sure I don't look like a total slob.
Buying clothes myself is one of the things I'm not particularly good at. But yesterday I was out and bought myself some clothes anyway! So... What happened? Let's sum it up.

Recently I've rewritten more or less the entire code-base for one of my other sites. In the end I decided to switch to a much more simplified data-model, and this made the code a lot easier to work with. That, combined with a major increase in traffic lately, have given me much incentive to fool around and improve on the site itself.
So after checking out the HOWTOs and such, I decided I should try Lightbox out.

I know you are working your ass off with tests and all that these days and really shouldn't even be surfing the net at all.
However, I found this thing on Youtube, and boy would I appreciate having something like that back in the days when I did physics at the university.
Pretty neat.

As most of my friends know, I have been taking a week off from work and I still got this week to relax. I honestly haven't been doing much so far. Like previously stated: just slobbing around. The only thing I managed to produce in this time was a nasty hangover for saturday. That is, until yesterday.
One of my other sites had a rather flexible data-design, that allowed the site to be fully multilingual without too much hassle. In the end I never used it, so it was just excess code that complicated matters needlessly.

After I posted the article The great instant noodle showdown, this American guy I know tipped me off about some noodles I really should try out if I ever found them: Myojo Chukazanmai brand noodles.
These are japanese noodles and can't be found in any stores in my area (not that I know of, anyway). Therefore I got some guy visiting Tokyo bring me back some of them, and so he did. Nice fella, huh? Today I tried them out.
The package was huge compared to any other brand of noodles I've seen. Don't know if it shows, but here's a picture for those who wonder what this stuff looks like:

I've been off work since friday and mostly been slobbing, relaxing and not doing much, which is cool since I've been working quite much lately. I'll be having 2 weeks off to do whatever I like and just chill.
My plans for these weeks was going somewhere instead of just staying in Oslo. Trondheim, Munich, Amsterdam, Budapest or just somewhere. However none of that worked out particularly well with the people I intended to hook up with. Bad timing, I guess.
Seeing as that didn't work out, I may actually get some work done on my site(s). God knows there are a few oddities that needs fixing. Or I'll just boy a Xbox 360 and waste time playing games. Time will tell.

According to the ads, my ISP has upped my bandwidth a tad without any increased costs. I can now serve a massive 50kbps more data! Yay!
Since this is technically a networking issue, I find these pictures rather fitting for the issue. Not at all representative for how I do things at home, but pretty amusing none the less.

Do not ask me how I found this.
It's just the best shit I've ever seen at youtube.
